Don’t Despair if Breastfeeding Seems Impossible! It will get easier!

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

Most women are not aware of the fact that breastfeeding sometimes more difficult to get used to than giving birth itself. Sometimes it is made even harder when the baby is born via C-Section.

The trick is to give yourself at least 2 weeks to start feeling comfortable with breastfeeding and make sure you pay attention to position, latch and don’t introduce bottles for as long as possible.

Also, make sure that an artificial nipple is not introduced early on in the process as that sometimes causes nipple confusio and causes the babies not to recognize your nipple as a source of food.

Also remember that breastfeeding is NOT supposed to hurt. Many times, when the baby is improperly latched on, it can cause excruciating pain to the mom.  You  then need to unlatch and start again.  Just make sure you put your finger in the babies mouth to break the suction or you will cause yourself some unnecessary pain.

Flood Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Pet Insurance

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

It seems a though the natural disasters we are seeing is becoming more and more prevalent. Hurricane Katrina gave us a first hand example of why it’s important to have flood insurance. Flood Insurance is designed to protect you against natural disasters such as floods and other water damage. So, if you live in a flood zone or low lying areas that are prone to flooding it’s quite a gamble to go without flood insurance. Yet people do. Most the time it’s for economical reasons, taking the risk that it will never happen to you. Katrina was a glowing advocate of why all individuals should carry flood insurance in risky flood prone areas. Many of the victims of the Katrina paid the ultimate price, losing their homes and in many cases their lives.

Disability insurance is another form of insurance that we should never go without, regardless of geographic location. Disability insurance helps pay for expenses when you’re out of work. Disability insurance plays a critical role in sustaning your income and protecting your family.

If you have a high-risk job that may result in long periods of injury may cost you more in premiums, nut sure is nice when needed. Many individuals think of disability insurance as the insurance that pays in case of injury at your job. But, it also pays for such things as illness. In fact, illness is the most common issue associated with disability insurance claims. This is particularly valuable as some of the major illness’ such as cancer can not only devastate your family, but have severe impact on your family economically. So, take a serious look at disability insurance when planning for insurance protection of your family.

Pet insurance is probably the least common of the types of insurance that are out there. Much like human health insurance pet health insurance protects your pet against the costs of health related issues. Over the last several years pet insurance has become more and more popular insurance product. And for good reason, it’s relatively affordable, in fact very affordable; some programs are as low as $20 a month. The cost of proper pet health care can be pretty expensive. An when you’re trying to do the right thing for your pet the last thing you want to worry about is the costs. Many owners choose euthanasia over simple medical procedures. This is all too common. If you can’t afford proper veterinary care look into pet insurance to help with those unexpected pet health care costs.
